Effective Email Marketing
Email and subscription-based mailing lists have become an important feature for many web sites. Whether you are notifying your customers of new products, sending requested newsletters to your subscribers, or simply delivering an email message such as greeting to a group of friends, mailing lists offer a quick and easy way of communicating. City & District's SmarterMail mailing list is a basic, yet surprisingly flexible, tool for sending emails utilizing subscription-based mailing lists. It provides everything you need for managing subscription-based mailing lists, writing email messages and sending them over the Internet. In fact, you can maintain a number of separate subscription-based mailing lists, for different audiences and needs. Mailing lists must be enabled through your City & District (Plesk) control panel. Please login and navigate to the Email drop down menu and click on Mailing Lists and enable this in your account. Set the number of mailing lists you wish to use and click on save. How to create mailing list in smarter mail
Login to smarter mail admin account.
Select the Domain Settings Mailing list option.
Expand the folder named Mailing Lists and click on Mailing Lists
Click on New and fill in the form.
- Name: The name of the mailing list, this is what you will send your email too. IE email@example.com
- Moderator: The user that has access to moderate the list.
- Password: If you would like a password enabled to post messages to the list. Leave blank if you are using this list as a newsletter.
- Allow Posters: Choose what users can post messages to a list. Remember that, if you allow subscribers or anyone, anyone with an email address on the list can send a message, which will be sent to all email addresses on the list. If you set this to anyone, it means that anyone that knows the list address can send to it. Be very careful when choosing this setting. If you want to be the only able to send messages to the list, leave it set to moderators only.
Now that the mailing list is created, you can add your subscribers. Subscribers are the email addresses the list will be sent to. Click on Subscribers from the Mailing List menu, then click on new. Fill in the email address, then click on Mailing Lists and choose the list to assign the subscriber to.
The mailing list is created and you have email addresses subscriber. To send a message to the list, make sure you are logged in as the moderator of the list, and send a message to list address. To test this, assign yourself as the only subscriber and send a message, then add the other subscribers after you are happy with the message
